Killykeen Forest Park
Located 12km north-west of Cavan on the shores on Lough Oughter, 243-hectares of trees and inlets with nature trails, fishing spots and chalets for rent. Clough Oughter Castle is located within the park but is inaccesible to the public. Built in the 13th-century by the O'Reilly's on an island in the lake, the rebel Owen Roe O'Neill died here in 1649.

An Iron Age ring fort dating from the 8th century BC with three earthern ring defences. Legend says this is the burial site of the Kings of Leinster.
