This 18th century stately home of Robert Rochfort, Earl of Belvedere, stands in 160 acres of parklands on the shores of Lough Ennell. A modern visitor centre tells the tale of Rochfort's cruel 31-year imprisonment of his second wife, Mary Molesworth; Sir John Piers' seduction of Lady Cloncurry at a picnic (immortalised in verse by Sir John Betjemen) and the creation of Ireland's largest man-made folly - the Jealous Wall.

Columb Barracks and Military Museum

This small museum, located in Mullingar, is housed in the local army barracks. All kinds of military paraphernalia are on display, including weapons used in the War of Independence, Civil War and both World Wars.

Fairy Mound Castle

Located in Moate, between Athlone and Kilbeggan, a small folk museum with displays of 19-th century farm tools and kitchenware. The museum is open from April to October and also functions as a genealogical centre for researching Westmeath ancestors.
