St. Augustine's Church
This small church is located inside the walls adjacent to the headquarters of the Apprentice boys. It is built on the same site that St Columb is said to have built his monastery in the 6th century. This monastery was replaced in the 13th century by another church, but the newer building was constructed in the 1872. The previous church was the place of worship for the citizens of Derry before the completion of the Cathedral. But this church was still in use providing smaller more private sermons. It is situated on its own grounds and in the cemetery beside it rests many from past generations.
