Ennis Friary
Founded between 1240 and 1249 by Donnchadh Cairbreach O'Brien, king of Thomond. During the 15th-century this was one of Ireland's great centres of learning, with over 300 monks in residence.

Knappogue Castle
Located 3km south-east of Quin, this castle was built in 1467 by the McNamaras who ruled a large part of Clare from the 5th to the mid-15th centuries and built 42 castles in the region. The castle was used as a base for Cromwell but was regained by the McNamara family after the Restoration in 1660. Banquets are held twice nightly in the castle from May to October.

Located in the town of Cavan, is a fully operational flour mill dating from 1846. Visitors actually prepare a loaf of wholemeal brown bread on arrival and pick it up at the end of the 40-minute tour.
